Apostolos E. Papalois

PhD, KGSJ, AMACS

He was born in Athens in 1968. He graduated from the Varvakeio Model School and in 1991 from the Biology Department of the University of Athens. He has completed his PhD thesis on pancreatic islet transplantation, liver cell transplantation and development of bio-artificial liver (grade “Excellent”), with the collaboration of the Department of Biology and the Medical School of the University of Athens and the Department of Surgery of the University of Cambridge (U.K.). His postgraduate education includes the Universities of Minnesota, Cambridge, Boston, Los Angeles and others. I have also attended international seminars on special topics.

From 1996 until 31 December 2020, he was Director of the Research, Training and Experimental Centre of ELPEN Pharmaceutical Industry (25 consecutive years). During this period, many experimental doctoral theses and masters were completed. He has been teaching for many years at under- and postgraduate level at the Universities of Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, West Attica and Alexandroupolis, in many programs.

I have been a Visiting Professor at Universities in Greece, Europe and the USA. More than 500 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and many papers. As of February 2021, member of the HEAL Academy (HealthCare Education and Advanced Learning) of the HHG Group (Hellenic HealthCare Group - 7 major hospitals in Greece and Cyprus - Mitera, Hygeia, Metropolitan General, Metropolitan Hospital, Lito, Creta Interclinic, Apolloneio Cyprus) as a regular member of the Scientific Committee and Head of Events and Translational Research. Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Digestive Oncology.

Regular Member of National Research and Education Committees. As of November 2021, he was elected Secretary General of the Board of NASCE/UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists - UEMS - NASCE - Network of Accredited Clinical Skills Centres). He has organized more than 800 Scientific Events with active participation (Organizing - Scientific Committee, Trainer, Coordinator, etc.). Honorary distinctions in many international and national conferences (first prizes for papers etc.) and special honors for his contribution.
